Browser windows and tabs

Each saved app opens in its own browser window beside the rail. Here is what that window can do.

#Tabs

Each window has a main tab and extra tabs. You can create, close, reorder, pin, mute, duplicate, sleep and wake tabs, and reopen a closed tab with Ctrl+Shift+T.

• Keep as main tab makes a tab open first every time.
• Add to sidebar saves a tab as a new app and leaves it open.
• Add to personal library saves it to your library.

#Address bar, bookmarks and downloads

• Search from the address bar with Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Brave, Yahoo, Yep, Qwant or Ecosia.
• Star pages, use the bookmarks bar and drag bookmarks to reorder them.
• Downloads show a progress ring, speed and time left. Pause, resume, cancel and Show in folder are available. Risky file types ask before opening.
• Find in page Ctrl+F, zoom, print Ctrl+P, translate and fullscreen F11 are in the toolbar and menu.

#Memory Saver

Memory Saver is off by default. When it is on, it sleeps idle tabs after 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. It never sleeps the active, pinned or audible tab.

#Notifications, permissions and screen sharing

• Notifications from web apps become Windows notifications. Clicking one opens the page that sent it, and unread counts appear on the rail. There is no background Web Push when a site’s tab is closed.
• When a site asks for a permission, choose Allow for this document, Always allow on this site or Block on this site, or close the prompt to decide later. Site settings show Ask, Allowed or Blocked and can reset permissions.
• Screen sharing offers a source picker: the entire screen, a window or a Side Whisper tab, with optional system or tab audio.

#Streaming that needs DRM

#Clearing data

Empty Cache and Hard Reload clears the cache but keeps a site’s service workers. Clear cookies and site data works on one site, asks first and reloads the page.
